Privacy

Findscope has no accounts, no ads and no tracking.

What we collect

Nothing that identifies you. There is nothing to sign up for, no cookies are set, and no advertising tools run on the site.

To know which pages are read, the site counts visits withVercel Web Analytics. Each page view is recorded anonymously — the page, the site you came from, your country and city, your device and browser — and only ever seen as totals. No IP address is kept: you're told apart from other visitors by a code made from your request, discarded after 24 hours.

When you submit a find, what you fill in — and your email, if you choose to leave it — is sent to us by email through FormSubmit, which keeps submissions for 30 days. We use your email only to tell you whether the find is featured, and delete the submission once it has been reviewed.

What stays in your browser

A few interface preferences are kept in your browser's storage so the site feels the same from page to page: the view you picked for lists (grid, feed or list), whether sounds are on, the section of the menu you came from, and the last find Surprise me drew. They never leave your device, and clearing your browser's site data removes them.

Services the site relies on

Loading a page means your browser talks to a few services, which see your IP address like any website would:

  • Vercel hosts the site, counts its visits (above) and keeps short-lived technical logs to keep it running.
  • Sanity serves the images.
  • Some finds show a YouTube video, embedded in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). YouTube is contacted when that page loads, and sets no cookies until you play the video. Its privacy policy applies from then on.

Links to finds

Every find links to its own website. Once you follow a link, that website's own privacy policy applies, not this one.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete any data about you by writing to hello@mavel.world. You can also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority.
